Who We Are:
We are a small rattery currently located in Renton, Washington. At Stud Muffins, we specialize in hairless and dalmatian rats. Our
rats come in a variety of coat types, ear types, and colors. In the near future we are working towards adding in dwarf sizes in both
types of rats and will breed in odd eyes as we can. Most importantly, our rats will be healthy and happy, with looks being an added
bonus.
What We Believe:
Stud Muffins Rattery- About Us
|
1. At Stud Muffins, our rats are our family. They are treated as such, and before a rat ever leaves our home, we will need to feel
confident that they will be treated this way by you.
2. Before a rat ever leaves our home, you'll need to fill out and sign our Adoption Agreement. This is to the benefit of us here at
STUD, you as a new owner, and most importantly for your new ratty. We DO NOT adopt out on breeding contracts to anyone
except close breeder friends. We've worked hard to have only excellent pedigree's in our rattery and therefore would not feel
comfortable allowing just anyone to breed our rats. If you are not a breeder friend (or a breeder we can get to know) you will be
adopting out on a PET ONLY contract which you will need to uphold.
3.
Rats periodically need medical attention. All our rats have a dedicated and wonderful vet and they only receive the best in medical
care and attention. If you are adopting from us and you do not have a vet who is competent with rats, we will refer you to our vet in
Seattle. When you adopt from us, you are agreeing to provide this type of care should your rat need it.
4. Rats are social creatures and should not be kept alone. If you are adopting from us, we'll need proof that you have other rats in
your home, and if you don't, you'll need to adopt two of the same sex at the same time- no exceptions.
5. A proper cage, with adequate space and proper bar spacing is a must. At our rattery, we primarily use (and love) Martin's Cages
(although you can pick whatever cage you prefer). They can be ordered online OR you can contact Martin's via email or phone and
they will modify any cage they have to your specifications. A cage should also have many toys, hammocks, houses, and water available
at all times. For the water bottle, you can use glass if you feel plastic is not appropriate because of the chemicals that could leach
from plastic into water, or you can use a regular plastic bottle. The ones we use are Lixit or Water Buddy. Out of the two, we
definitely prefer the Water Buddy as they are stronger and do not allow saliva and food to be sucked back into the bottle.
6. A balanced and proper diet is a must. Commercial seed mixes and some blocks are not appropriate as they are not nutritionally
balanced and often contain things that rats cannot digest or that are too high in fat. We recommend and feed Harlan Teklad blocks
and Suebee's Mix. Our rats also get healthy and organic human foods daily and wait with great anticipation every night for their
dinner time. We can no longer offer Harlan blocks for sale unless arranged for way in advance. Harlan has increased their mininum
order amount from $500 to $1000 and so Harlan will be ordered not as frequently within our rat club. We will still continue to feed
Harlan to our crew and do highly recommend it. If you'd like to know ways in which you can order with our club, email us and we
can let you know how!
7. Most importantly, if you have adopted a rat from us and cannot care for it or keep it, contact us and we will take the rat back.
At no time do we want our rats brought to a pet store, sold on craigslist, brought to a shelter, or sold to a animal testing facility
when they can be rehomed back to us, no questions asked. If you do not return them back to us, we will let all other breeders
within our club know and you will be put on a "Do Not Adopt" list because of this breech of contract.
8. And finally, we reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason and at any time, should we feel uneasy about a situation.

Visiting the Rattery
To insure that our rats are not exposed to pathogens, either bacterial or viral, that can be transmitted off humans, our rattery is closed to visitors. If you'd like to meet a baby we can arrange a time and a place for you to see them away from our home and away from other rodents. Pictures of the rattery can be seen HERE, for those curious as to how our rattery looks and what sort of living arrangements we have for our crew!

Both Milly and Nezumi had their babies! All are doing well so far
and both moms are just as doting as they were with their first litters.
We've also decided on our next three litters! At the middle of
December we'll be doing STUD Elara x Dmtn Bandit, at the end of
December we'll be doing ROUS Olivia x STUD Floyd, and for our
dwarf/dwarf carrier dalamation litter to be put together in January
we will be doing tBBR Snootles x tBBR Melvin!
11/28/07
We are now adding our updated baby pictures for our litters. Bear
with us here, as we have a had a SUPER busy two weeks! Rest
assured, by the end of this weekend, Milly's baby pictures will be
up.
Unfortunately, our foster litter from SITH Caprica did not make it.
It wasn't for lack of trying on Milly's part, as the babies were mostly
fed and she was found still hovering the last to go, our little Louise,
after she had passed. This was an extremely sad situation and it
seems as though happily ever after was not to be at the end of this
story. Sleep sweet, dear Caprica.

It is a very sad time for us here at Stud. Most importantly, my
mother passed away unexpectedly last week. I was very close to her
and have been having a very hard time dealing with this loss. I will
have to take a trip back to Canada to deal with her estate, so I will
not be breeding another litter until I return. There is a current litter,
STUD Elara x Dmtn Bandit that was born January 2, 2008 and is
being raised for me by Lynn at ROUS. As soon as there is a litter
page up, I will include the link here.
Also, our emperor of Ratonia, 3GR Pomodoro had to be helped to
the bridge on December 21, 2007. He meant so much to me and
things just haven't been the same since he's been gone.
We'd also like to annouce another joint litter. STUD and Jats
currently have a joint litter which can be seen here. Jan, from JATS
is raising this litter, her very first, so take a peek in her direction!
We will be updating our page more as I have time before I head
away for a few weeks. Please bear with me and rest assured, once
things are taken care of for my mom, I will be back on the "breeding
horse". I just need time to deal and to heal.
04/05/08
STUD is finally getting back to business. We have had two litters
born (gracing us with 15 rittens) within the last week and will be
updating the current litters page accordingly. We expect dals in
fawn, beige, agouti, black, and blue agouti colors, all dumbo, with
velveteen and standard coats. Some will be dwarf and others will
be standard sized.
We're also looking forward to a joint breeding with SITH Rattery in
BC! They are no longer actively breeding, but will be doing a joint
litter with us. Our doe, SITH Bun, will be honeymooning with the
handsome SITH Rizzo in BC starting Wednesday, so hopefully in the
next month we'll have another awesome litter to look forward to!
05/21/08
Our lovely and most precious doe SITH Bun has given birth today!
So far we see 7-8 rittens, but we have covered her up with some
more fleece and are leaving her to tend to her babies. This litter is
going to be super amazing! Even though the litter is being raised
here and the doe is mine, this is joint litter with SITH Rattery of BC!
They are an amazing rattery and we look up to them so much!
We'll be expecting all dumbos, in black and mink, with a small
chance of blues. Half velveteen and half standard coats. All with
perfect temperaments!
